Saxophone Lessons
Hello, and thank you for your interest in private saxophone lessons! Read below for more information about what private lessons can do for you, and how you can get the most out of the experience.
Why private lessons?
Taking private music lessons is an incredibly valuable and rewarding experience. You could be a complete beginner, or maybe you have been playing for a few years already and want to know how to take it to the next level. Here are just a few benefits of taking private lessons:
- Learn in depth about the saxophone, its history, and how it works
- Improve your tone, sight-reading, expressiveness, and control
- Learn how to approach practicing intelligently and effectively
- Audition for Region and All-State band- improve your scores!
- Become a better musician and well-rounded person
How do private lessons work?
- Lessons will meet once per week for 1 hour. New beginners meet for 45 minutes.
- I will travel to your home to teach your lessons - be sure to have a good music stand! Virtual lessons are also available through Skype, FaceTime, or Zoom.
- If you need to miss a lesson for any reason (sick, event conflict, etc.), please let me know as far in advance as possible. It is best to reschedule lessons when we can rather than miss them altogether, though it may be unavoidable sometimes.
- You will be asked to purchase certain materials (lesson books, reeds, etc.) every now and then. I will always let you know where to purchase these items and their approximate cost.
- The lesson fee is $75 ($60 for 45 minutes), cash or Venmo only please. Please pay at the conclusion of each lesson – no advance payments are necessary.
How do I get the most out of my lessons?
- Be prepared with your instrument, pencil, and folder every week
- Practice the materials you are assigned – this is the most crucial part!!
- Ask questions frequently – there are no stupid questions!
- Practice
- Perform regularly – the more playing experience you get, the better musician you will be!
- Practice
- Practice some more!
